Tea Tree

Melaleuca alternifolia

(BF3) Steam distilled leaves from Australia, Antiseptic and Disinfectant. Used extensively by the Aborigine in Australia and more recently studied by the scientific community. The tree was named by Captain Cook's crew who drank it as a tea substitute. If received further recognition in WWII when it was used for it disinfectant qualities.

APPLICATIONS: Useful for treating minor cuts and wounds and fungal complaints. A good oil for treating respiratory infections. Tea Tree's antiseptic and anti-fungal properties are 12 times stronger than carbolic acid.

NOTES: it is a possible sensitizer in some individuals.
