(M-BF1) steam distilled leaves from Jamaica. Indigenous to the West Indies and South America it is now cultivated in Jamaica. This domestic spice traditionally was used for neuralgia and rheumatic pain, to relieve dyspepsia and constipation. It has a spicy scent similar to cloves.
APPLICATIONS: Useful as an aromatic component in soaps, aftershaves and oriental fragrances. It's a popular food flavoring and in alcoholic drinks. In aromatherapy it may be used to relieve arthritis and stiffness.
NOTES: May cause skin and mucous membrane irritation. Should be used in low dilution.
