Loading... Please wait...Pressed Powders are relatively simple to make but for the best result you need a good binder, decent pressing tools and you need to press hard enough to get a good compacted result.
Our Base already has the binder dispersed through it. Our binder includes both carnauba wax and lecithin in additon to the three liquid emollients in our liquid binder which give is some extra binding powder.
This simple tutorial will walk you through the basic steps or using our pressed powder base in addition to showing you how you can vary your colors by using just one pigment and plus black and white.
1. First you will need to assemble your tools. (We have put together a pressed powder kit that has this all together for you). You will need the following>
Pigment of choice plus black and white mica.
1 sample pack of our pressed powder base. ( I have used the opaque for this tutorial)
Measuring scoops, 1 gram and .15 grams.
Pressing Pad and Pan to match.
Stirring Rod.
Container and mixing cups.
1. Pour 1 full sample pack (about 2-3 grams) of pressed powder base into your mixing cup. Add 1 large scoop of pigment to it.
Use your stirring rod to stir it well. Make sure there are not white specks in the powder. After you have mixed it well divide it into 3 parts on the blending papers. (supplied with kit). If you don't have this cut up some wax pape.

Take the first pile and pour it into your pan. Press the powder down with the flat side or your stirring rod. After you have pressed it down, scoop up the powder that have fallen over the edge and pour it on top. Take your pressing pad and press it all down again.

Keep doing this until all the powder is well pressed into the pan.

Next take the second pile and add 4 small scoops of black mica to it. (How much you want to add is upt to you. It will depend on how dark you want it. Repeat the mixing and pressing process again and then place the pressed piece into your compact beside your first one.

Take your third pile and add 3 scoops of lustrous white to it. Once again repeat the mixing and pressing process and place it next to your darker color.

You now have your three tone compact with your base color, and highlighter and definer.
I wish I could have gotten the picture to show you really how pretty these colors turned out but..well I just don't seem to be able to take a great picture! During the last pressing I put a piece of netting between the pad and the powder to get this look.
