HOW GREEN ARE YOUR PRODUCTS?
Many products are marketed as "made with 100% natural ingredients" but are really not deserving of that label. They have often been modified chemically and may contain chemical by products.
As suppliers, we want to do our part in promoting ethical green products. We use suppliers that manufacture with ethical green practices, are transparent when divulging information about their chemicals, and use green renewable sources whenever possible. In order to pass on as much information as possible, we have devised a GREEN CODING SYSTEM. Whenever possible, we supply our products with a numerical code. As follows:
- 4 100% Naturally derived from renewable sources, possibly physically purified by water, alcohol or energy.
- 3 100% Naturally derived and modified by chemical process, catalyst or reaction aids.
- 2 Derived from a combination of Natural and Synthetic sources.
- 1 Derived from Synthetic sources and chemically processed.
DIY Cosmetics strives to access raw materials that are manufactured, under strict guidelines and testing, in the USA. We require certificates of analysis. Other options include green products manufactured in Germany, UK, France, Italy, or other well regulated countries. Some of our American suppliers do have their products manufactured, under strict guidelines, in Mexico. In these cases, that fact will be listed. We especially look for high quality ingredients from our own desert area such as our Specialty Jojoba Products.
